The brief for this project was to design a new home with Scandinavian & Japanese influences. The house is designed around a central courtyard providing a transparency feel from the Genkan (Traditional Japanese Entryway), through the courtyard and living areas onto the yard and a natural reserve at the rear of the property. Deep Charred Black Timber cladding, combined with natural & recycled hardwood elements provide a special aesthetic to the exteriors, whilst concrete floors, white and recycled hardwood give a clean and simple approach to the interiors. A Japaneese palm tree and large glazing around the courtyard becomes the heart of the house and different energy efficient features add a very special feel to the project.
